Avatars

Every Snakk user gets a unique, deterministic avatar generated from their user ID. You can also upload your own.

Generated avatars

Your generated avatar is created algorithmically and is unique to your account. Snakk uses four avatar styles:

  • Marble — flowing, organic color patterns
  • Beam — a duotone smiley face with offset circles
  • Pixel — pixel art style grid pattern
  • Bauhaus — abstract geometric shapes (circles, squares, lines)

The colors and shapes are derived from your user ID, so your avatar is consistent and recognizable wherever it appears.

Custom avatars

Upload a custom avatar from your profile settings. Supported formats are JPEG, PNG, and WebP. The image is automatically cropped to a square and optimized.

How avatars appear

Your avatar shows up on your profile, next to your posts and replies, in the user popup when someone hovers over your name, and in community contributor lists.
